For Students

The NRF Business of Retail Initiative offers a range of experiential opportunities for students to explore the retail industry, build professional networks, and develop real-world skills. To learn more or get involved, please contact Professor Kelly Lee, program director of the initiative.
NRF Business of Retail MBA Student Fellowship
This competitive program is open to MBA students who demonstrate a strong interest in the retail sector. Fellows play a key role in advancing the initiative by leading research projects, coordinating events, and promoting retail-focused engagement across campus. The fellowship offers access to industry leaders and hands-on experience that supports academic and career growth. Applications are open until September 7, reviewed on a rolling basis.
Undergraduate Internships
Undergraduate interns are selected based on their interest in retail and commitment to the initiative’s mission. Interns contribute to campus outreach, event promotion, and partnerships with student clubs, gaining valuable leadership and communication skills in the process.
Student Club Partnerships
The NRF Business of Retail Initiative collaborates with student organizations — such as the Georgetown Marketing Association (GMA) and the Georgetown Retail and Luxury Association (GRLA) — to extend its reach across campus.

Georgetown Marketing Association
GMA is Georgetown’s premier student-run marketing group, offering hands-on consulting experience, professional training, and networking opportunities. Members work with real clients through the Agency to deliver creative and strategic marketing solutions, while also building a strong community of aspiring marketers.

Georgetown Retail and Luxury Association
GRLA focuses on educating students about the retail and luxury industries. Through four collaborative committees, GRLA plans events and builds community around a shared passion for the fashion space. Past speakers have included leaders from Fendi, Tom Ford, Chanel, and Bently Motors.
NRF Foundation Student Program

Each January, the NRF Foundation Student Program in New York City gives college students the unique opportunity to launch their future careers in retail and experience all that the industry offers. Retail executives in marketing, merchandising, talent, entrepreneurship, sustainability, supply chain, technology, and more share their stories, insights, and what they have learned in their careers. Students can explore various career paths in the retail industry, meet with dozens of recruiters from their favorite brands, and create visions for their futures, all in just four days.
The NRF Foundation Student Program is open to all undergraduate and graduate students, and all educators and staff at any U.S. college or university can attend this event.
NRF Foundation Retail Scholarships
Undergraduates can apply now on the NRF website for scholarship opportunities that offer real-world case study experiences and help fund travel to the NRF Foundation Student Program in New York City. From the NRF Foundation University Challenge business competition for teams of two to four undergraduates studying all majors, to the NRF Foundation Next Generation Scholarship for future retail leaders, the NRF Foundation provides more than $1 million in scholarships each year.
